Maldives Hotel and Trade Exhibition 2008 (MHTE) encourages all local companies big and small involved in the hospitality industry to participate. To help truly represent the entire tourism and hospitality industry, participation to this event is FREE. This exhibition provides an equal platform for National, Regional and International companies to present their products and services directly to those involved in the hospitality industry. This will help to exchange ideas, and increase quality, competitiveness and bring better standards to the tourism and hospitality industry.

Maldives Hotel and Trade Exhibition 2008 (MHTE) is also about show-casing Maldivian companies to international professionals in the trade sector. Maldives tourism industry was has grown exponentially, since its establishment in 1970’s. Just in three and a half decades, the industry has become the main source of income and livelihood of the people of the Maldives. Today, there are 89 resorts in the Maldives with a bed capacity of over 17,000, providing world class facilities for tourists whose annual arrival figure exceeds 600,000. Recently Maldives has been chosen as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination by the World Travel Awards (WTA - Shanghai 2008). Male’ International Airport, Maldives won the “Indian Ocean’s Leading Airport” award.
